Additional Information

Why is it different?
SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant has a light lotion texture that softens and hydrates skin as it gently and naturally exfoliates dead skin, just like your skin did when you were younger. This lotion creates an immediate and dramatic improvement in skin's appearance and feel. Your skin will look more radiant and unbelievably smoother, with diminished pore size and less visible wrinkles.

This exfoliant has a pH range of 3.2–3.8.

What does it do?
Exfoliates dead skin to reveal the healthy-looking radiant skin hiding underneath. This optimal form of gentle exfoliation renews skin’s youthful-looking texture, shrinks pore size, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Lightweight, hydrating emollients soften skin, leaving it feeling smooth and soft without flaking or redness.

How to use
Apply once or twice daily after cleansing and toning over the entire face, including the eyes (avoid the lower lash line and eyelids). Do not rinse. For daytime, follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 15 or greater.

I bought my first tube of this and loved it! Was hydrating and left my skin soft without oiliness. Went ahead and bought my second tube and it's changed! It is now a gel based lotion, not opaque and creamy like before, and after one week of use I fell my skin is tight and starting to dry out. I'm very upset as I loved the original and am annoyed that there is nowhere in the description of the product online to advise that it has changed. I will now be starting my search all over again for a moisturiser as this no longer makes the cut.

      Bad batch, mistake or reformulated?

I'm a little confused. I have been using this product for a good seven years, and I have always found it incredible. I have combination skin with a tendency towards small oily patches with a lot of milia, and dry flaky patches elsewhere. I have always found this product to be very moisturising almost to the point of being a little too heavy. I would have described it as creamy, and I loved it. I've just ordered a new bottle, and I can find no suggestion it has been reformulated, but what I have received is a much lighter product than usual. It is almost gel-like . Either there is something wrong with this batch, or I've gotten the wrong product with the right label, or it's been reformulated. Cost of returning is prohibitive so I guess I'll give it a go mixed with a moisturiser and see how I get on. First time I've ever been disappointed in a PC order.

Comments about 2% BHA Lotion - 100 ml:

I started my BHA experimentation with the 1% formula and saw some results, but once I'd satisfied myself that it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin I upgraded to this 2% formula. It has a slightly lighter, less moisturising formula than the 1% but I think it works great under sunscreen/moisturiser. I love that the lotion can be applied with fingertips and doesn't create waste through use of cotton balls. It feels nicer on the skin than the gel, I think. Most of all, I love that I've seen even more improvement to my pore size and skin quality since switching to the stronger formula. In particular, the persistent blackheads on my chin have all shrunk or disappeared. Family members have commented that my skin is looking great.

Comments about 2% BHA Lotion - 100 ml:

This is my favourite bha product! I have sensitive, combo-oily skin which is very acne prone. I use this twice a day and the paulas choice benzyl peroxide 2.5% cream once a day. I still get acne but this regime keeps it in check and settles the breakouts before they get out of hand. Prior to this I was on Roaccutane for 7 years and could not stop taking it without the acne coming back. I find the bha and benzyl peroxide work just as well as the roaccutane.

The 2% lotion is perfect for me, the lotion formula seems to prevent sensitisation and dryness. It absorbs easily and doesn't have much of a smell.

I've tried the 1% bha lotion - it isn't strong enough for me.

I've also tried the 2% bha liquid - works well but caused dryness and a tendency toward sensitivity in me, problems I don't get with the lotion formula.

Comments about 2% BHA Lotion - 100 ml:

I use the 1% BHA lotion on my face and 2% BHA body lotion with no problems - they're great products that help keep my blackheads/kiratosis pilaris under control. So I thought I'd try the 2% BHA face lotion as I still have problems with blackheads on my nose. I put it on at night and when I woke up the next morning my face was red, swollen and really puffy - so much so I was embarrassed to go to work! After a few days the swelling and redness went down, but then the skin over my entire face started flaking off. Overall it took a week for my face to recover. I love PC so hate to be critical, but just be wary of this product if you have sensitive skin.

I had a reaction to this product, I think I must be allergic to one of the ingredients. I would not suggest it to those with sensitive skin. I've used 2% BHA for KP, 5% AHA and 10% AHA for KP from PC without any problems.

I have used paula's choice for about 7 years. This particular product irrated my skin and caused some irratation. It is quite thick, and think that it must be the way it sits on my skin as I do not have irration from the other exfoliants in a liquid format. I would recommend to someone who has dry, non-sensitive skin which can handle a heavier product

Comments about 2% BHA Lotion - 100 ml:

In my experience with this product I would be reluctant to call it a 'one product fits all/suitable and effective for all skin types product'. I have combination/dry skin with blackheads on my nose and forehead. I purchased this with high hopes after reading positive reviews as I have struggled with blackheads for years and years, and although pore strips and scrubs are temporary solutions, they just keep coming back (due to the hair follicles getting clogged). Unfortunately for me, after about a week of use, my skin has broken out as either the product is too rich or maybe this is how it works, bringing clogged sebum to the surface. For me I can't handle something that needs to make skin visibly worse before/if it gets better. My dermatologist recommended a prescription only blackhead reduction cream and I am skin much better results without the pimples and breakouts, so if you can have a consultation with your GP/derm to find the right solution for you.

I was recommend this by a Paula's choice consultant to treat rough, dry, flaky patches on my face. I had previously been using the BHA 1% lotion. Unfortunately, this made everything worse and my dry skin became much drier. I tried using it every second day, every fourth day, once a week, once a fortnight, but it just didn't work. I love the idea of this treatment, and the results others have had, but the BHA 1% & 2% treatments just aren't suitable for me.

My main concerns were closed/open comedones (also known as black and white heads). Alot of the closed comedones were so buried, no amount of microdermasion can brings it out. But this BHA lotion actually worked and brought the comedones to the surface (about 1 week use). I also have very sensitive and dry skin and this lotion didn't sting, flake or dry out my skin at all. Although I think I prefer the liquid version cuz it is easier to spread.
