Really helped my bumpy skin in just a few days!
This product is way too strong for my skin. I used it a couple of times on my face, and after the second use, my skin became very red, irritated and dry, for weeks. I also tried it on my arms, and I experienced redness there as well.
Once a week is not enough; daily is too much, but I use this pretty frequently, alternating with the Calm 1%. I mostly spot treatment it on my nose and chin and spread it outward toward the rest of my face.

I received my first bottle of this product from my mom as it was too strong for her and she experienced the irritation and bad reaction that some other reviewers here have mentioned. This was in early Summer 2016. I was weary to try, but when I did, it was like a miracle! My skin was smoother, pore more refined, so many little bumps and closed comedones on my forehead were smoothed away instantly. I loved the product and used it daily (as my skin can handle pretty strong products)! I ordered a second bottle myself (late April 2017) and.... nothing. I saw no result on my skin. The bumps remained and even worsened. I understand my skin may have been reacting differently to diet or other products, but this was seriously no better than putting water on my face - it just did nothing. Such a bummer as it seems they changed the formula to be more gentle. I missed the return window (boo!) and will not be reordering. PC - bring back the old kind!!!

Absolutely love PC's line but this is the one product I cannot use. Any time I've ever tried to use it, it causes my eyes to swell up, leaving them red and puffy and extemely agitated. Perhaps I'll try it on any body acne I have but absolutely will not touch my face again. I've tried it 3 times now on my face and every time it's provided me the same awful results of red, puffy, swollen skin all around my eyes, even when applied to just my forehead and cheeks. Not worth the price tag for me.
My son is going through that hormonal phase they all do and gets some pretty serious breakouts as a result. I started him on the PC4Men products (cleanser and toner) two years ago and we use this product twice a week on his breakouts. It makes a huge difference and the difference can be seen overnight. Follow the directions and use sparingly (no more than twice a week) and you won't have these reactions others are describing. Be careful if you are using retinoids though - I use Retin A at night and so I can only use this as a spot treatment once a week and I will skip my retinoids the night I use this. One week he decided to overdo it and he found out why following the directions is important, as it left him with a red, irritated patch that looked like a chemical burn and took a week to heal. Be patient. Yes, the smell is gross but it does dissipate quickly.

I love this product. I have combination skin, sensitive. No problems with this product. I do not notice a smell, but everyone's different. I think it works great. The skin around my eyes is very sensitive, but I have had no problems whatsoever. I think you probably need to be really careful not to put on the eye area if you are hyper sensitive.
I have used Paula's Choice products for years and have been very pleased with most of them. Not this one, though. I applied it Wednesday night and woke up Thursday with swollen and red skin and puffy eyes. My skin feels like needles are pricking it over and over again. It is now Friday and it appears as though it triggered a flare-up of peri-oral dermatitis. I spent 6 months and hundreds of dollars trying to get this condition cleared up last year. I am devastated that it is back. My skin is bumpy, red and swollen. I wish I had looked at the reviews more carefully before purchasing. I am able to use the other BHA treatment without negative effects but I still had some stubborn places that needed clearing. Unfortunately this product has left me with even bigger problems than what I started with originally.
I bought this product and found it to be somewhat helpful, but didn't notice any real difference. It wasn't drying for me, and I had no bad reactions (even with my rosacea). However, I'm curious as I'm consdiering buying it again: this product claims to be 4% BHA, but doesn't the FDA say you can't have concentrations greater than 4% in OTC products? I'm wondering if this product is really closer to 2% BHA.
I have been using this product since it first came out, and it has been a valuable part of my skincare routine; it is SO effective! My most recent bottle, however, smells SO BAD that I think it must be "off". I have no recollection of it having this terrible smell, or a yellowish colour (I remember it being colourless).
