Putting together a successful anti-blemish skin care routine might seem like an overwhelming task, but based on extensive research, one thing is certain—without a doubt, one of the best and most effective ingredients to start with is benzoyl peroxide.

How Does Benzoyl Peroxide Work?

Benzoyl peroxide is a type of organic peroxide that release oxygen when it comes into contact with skin, killing certain blemish-causing agents. Benzoyl peroxide essentially gets to the root of the problem by absorbing directly into the pore and clearing out these triggers. This not only helps diminish and improve current blemishes, but also helps prevent future blemishes and minimises the redness that accompanies them as well.

What’s especially exciting is that research has shown topical application of benzoyl peroxide doesn’t disrupt skin's microbiome. If anything, it can have a balancing effect.
